Deep In The Old Bayou
30 miles or so outside the town of Thibodeaux,
Things ain't changed much, say, for a hundred years or so.
They don't need the world outside, they're happy don't you know?
They don't fret for much, they'd rather dance the zydeco!
Way down deep in the old bayou.
Sweet Felicia watching gators basking in the sun
Shrimp boats drifting by, she waves "hello" to every one.
Such a pretty smile, it makes the air around her glow!
You should see her dance, oh, how she loves the zydeco!
Way down deep in the old bayou.
Little Magic, knee deep in the river with a seine:
Oh, he loves the crawfish, even fishes in the rain.
Takes 'em home and Sweet Felicia cooks 'em then we go
Out across the swamp to where they play the zydeco.
Way down deep in the old bayou.
Man, I'm gonna go back there to stay one day for good.
Sweet Felicia waits for me, she promised that she would.
Then we're gonna marry, we'll be happy, don't you know?
She and I will laugh and sing, and dance the zydeco.
Way down deep in the old bayou.
