The story behind the story...

This song was the result of a challenge thrown down by my uncle, an ordained Indian priest and witch doctor from Oklahoma. He'd heard a rough mix of Summer Days, and liked the hybrid country / hip hop direction of that song, but said it wasn't CRAZED enough...

He goads me incessantly, and is in fact, almost my conscience, though sometimes more like a mosquito in a sleeping bag. To keep him off my back, I promised him a song one Friday, saying I'd have it to him on Monday.

I got distracted in the studio on other tasks 'till about 10 pm Sunday night, when I horrifiedly recalled my promise. I was looking desperately for a phrase that would REALLY define Hip Hop Country, and nothing was coming. In desperation, I used the phrase we'd coined AS the title.

Desperation can lead to some crazy / fun songs, and this is one of them.

Renowned Dance Instructor Knox Rhine from up Seattle way has actually written a dance for this song, "Hip Hop Crazy," and is teaching it in his classes. He also has a group of dancers performing it in competitions. Pretty impressive, for a Sunday night panic desperation song. Crazed Cowboys love Knox Rhine, oh smooth master of the hardwood.
